The NeZ Evolution
NeZ Records was conceived as a means to facilitate the creation, growth and promotion of quality independent music. We couldn't find a better project to back than Martinez and Guthrie's, Gathering Change, to help us define what this label is and will be. This label, and music project, have been years in the making and is the result of a passionate desire to share songs that are meaningful to us. Be on the look out for new releases from NeZ Records in 2007.

It is very apparent from the onset of this album that Joe Martinez's arrangement of the music is a beautifully crafted platform for listeners to hear Gus Guthrie's soulful and sincere voice. A major emphasis has been placed on doing what is best for each song as a whole, rather than as an attempt to showcase particular talents. It took a couple of years to complete the subtle layering of vocals with instruments like the congas, mandolin, accordion, guitar, bass and drums. Sometimes it was the decision to strip instruments away that helped shape the seemingly simple and pure sound. It is the sum of parts that make Gathering Change so special.
